Presented on: Thursday, March 12, 2020

Presented by: Jennifer Boles, CPC, CRC

In the outpatient setting, CDI teams face many challenges—physicians’ fast-paced schedule, varying coding rules, and a different clinical focus from traditional inpatient efforts. CDI professionals may find themselves at a loss for how to approach the query process and physician education.

Identifying the clinical indicators and coding nuances of outpatient’s most troublesome diagnoses can give CDI programs the ammunition needed to effectively educate and query physicians.

In this 90-minute webinar, Jennifer Boles, CPC, CRC, will unpack the clinical and coding nuances for several top diagnoses encountered in the outpatient setting: Diabetes, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart arrhythmia, and depression. Listeners will come away with the tools they need to effectively navigate these tough diagnoses and build an effective outpatient CDI process.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify commonly under documented ambulatory conditions
  • Define the role of the outpatient/ambulatory CDI professional
  • Explain diabetes, heart failure, COPD, heart arrhythmia, and depression terminology and clinical concepts
