Live Virtual CDI and Quality Care Measures Boot Camp

Overview

Advance your practice to the next level in CDI

The Live Virtual CDI and Quality Care Measures Boot Camp is an intensive course designed for CDI departments/programs looking to move to the next level of CDI—not just diagnosis review and clarification, but how diagnoses impact hospital quality metrics and influence indirect revenues.

This class covers publicly reported quality data and how code assignment affects quality metrics, including but not limited to the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Program. Students will learn the why and how of reviewing complex cases involving Patient Safety Indicators (PSI) and hospital-acquired infections (HAI), and leave with measurable strategies for improving their hospital profiles and positively influencing their facility’s value-based incentive payments.

Who is this class for?
The CDI and Quality Care course is designed for CDI departments and programs looking to move to the next level of CDI—not just diagnosis review and clarification, but how diagnoses impact hospital quality metrics and influence indirect revenues. One year of experience is recommended for this course but not required.

This boot camp will help you to:

  • Apply concepts of CDI record review, query, and provider education to CMS quality reporting measures
  • Create a strategy to demonstrate accurate public reporting and quality measure scores
  • Accurately apply present on admission indicators and identify query opportunities related to the HAC Reduction Program quality measures

Leave this boot camp with an understanding of:

  • How quality reporting impacts organization reimbursement
  • The application of CDI record review, query, and provider education to demonstrate quality outcomes
  • Quality measure reporting and how documentation integrity can positively impact scores
  • The impact of diagnoses reporting on quality reporting and organizational revenue

CDI and Quality Care Boot Camp—see the difference for yourself!

Check out all the benefits of this HCPro Boot Camp:

  • Expertly designed course materials: Course materials are developed by an adult education expert. The curriculum uses a “how to” approach where participants learn how to apply CDI concepts that they can then customize to their organizational needs. Content is regularly updated based on changing industry practices and participant feedback.
  • Live instruction: Classes are taught by an experienced instructor who is credentialed as a CDI professional and works as an industry subject matter expert for ACDIS.
  • Small class size: We limit the number of course participants in order to maintain a low participant-teacher ratio. This allows us to provide individual instruction as needed when participants find a topic particularly challenging; it also allows time for discussion.
  • Well-established program: Brought to you by the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS), this Boot Camp from the industry’s only dedicated CDI association provides the best-in-class education you expect.

Our boot camps are a comprehensive and effective way to strengthen your understanding of CDI. “Our goal as instructors is to offer detailed, thorough, and timely education that can be simply broken down and easily understood and applied in daily practice,” says CDI education director Laurie Prescott, MSN, RN, CCDS, CDIP, CRC, CCDS-O.

Live Virtual CDI and Quality Care Measures Boot Camp

Questions/Answers

Who is the class for?
Live Virtual CDI and Quality Care Measures Boot Camp is aimed at intermediate to advanced CDI specialists. It is also designed for experienced coders looking to increase their clinical knowledge, as well as physicians looking for a refresher in CDI.

This Boot Camp is not recommended for new CDI specialists as it does not concentrate on the process of CDI or the basics of reimbursement and MS-DRGs. If you have never had any training, then our foundational CDI Boot Camp is the program for you. Similarly, physicians seeking to learn the fundamentals of CDI would likely benefit more from that foundational course.

What computer set-up do I need to attend this class?
This will be hosted on the GoToMeeting platform. Attendees should have access to a computer that has a microphone and speakers to participate, there is also an option to dial-in over a phone line if you need to connect on your phone. You can also test your system by visiting https://support.logmeininc.com/gotomeeting/get-ready.

Live Virtual CDI and Quality Care Measures Boot Camp also doubles as a refresher course for anyone who had formal training prior to ICD-10 implementation. It includes many of the key changes to coding guidelines and Coding Clinic advice under ICD-10. Think of it as a two-for-one—a course with a focus on pathophysiology and a review of what you’ve already learned.

Are there any prerequisites?
The Boot Camp is intended for students who have already taken basic CDI training: either on the job or in a general CDI specialist course.

The material presented is at an intermediate level and assumes students have a baseline understanding of DRGs, coding guidelines, and basic query opportunities.

Who should attend?

  • CDI specialists, CDI supervisors, CDI managers/directors
  • Inpatient coders, coding supervisors, coding managers/directors
  • HIM managers/directors
  • DRG coordinators
