The Importance of Risk Adjustment in Value-Based Care Contracts
Jason Jobes, BA, MSPA
In this session attendees will get a refresher on the risk- and value-based landscape while learning tactical things they can do to succeed in risk adjustment. In a world where information and patient complexity are communicated via codes, it is more important than ever to have an accurate depiction of the population. With continued shifts from volume- to value-based care, organizations are learning that they must control the cost of care while ensuring patient complexity is accurately shown. Failure to do this represents an imbalance in actual vs. expected cost of care and could jeopardize an organization’s success in value-based contracts.
