Presented on: Thursday, November 10, 2022
Presented by: Camille Ruiz, RHIA
Chargemaster maintenance is a never-ending task, but the end-of-year updates require special planning and coordination to ensure changes are successfully implemented. These updates don’t stop at making the appropriate changes in the data file. Even if the chargemaster is complete and accurate, the revenue cycle process will come to a halt if other factors aren’t fully considered, including charge capture workflows, interactions with related systems, work queue assignments, and pricing. Ensuring that reimbursement and billing remain correct, complete, and compliant is a complex task involving multiple stakeholders, and it’s all too easy to overlook a critical process or department.
During this program, expert speaker Camille Ruiz, RHIA, will analyze CMS’ latest changes that affect the chargemaster and share best practices for comprehensive chargemaster maintenance, including implementation strategies, updating policies and workflows, and conducting testing to spot operational errors. She’ll also discuss tips for providing education to revenue cycle and clinical departments, reviewing, and assigning work queues, and more. Ruiz will also participate in a live Q&A.
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Explain CMS’ proposed Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System updates for 2023
- Describe strategies for implementing chargemaster updates and providing education to affected departments
- Demonstrate methods to test interfaces and identify errors
