Presented by: Courtney Crozier, MA, RHIA, CCS, CDIP

Malnutrition has been in the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) sights for a long time, perhaps longer than any other diagnosis. Because of this audit focus, coding and CDI professionals need working knowledge of clinical definitions, diagnostic criteria, and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines for malnutrition diagnoses. They must avoid common coding and billing errors, and implement organizational processes to protect against malnutrition-related denials.

Join expert speaker Courtney Crozier, MA, RHIA, CCS, CDIP, for this hourlong webinar on inpatient documentation and ICD-10-CM coding for malnutrition. She will review relevant findings from OIG audits and discuss potentially confusing ICD-10-CM coding guidelines. She will also describe clinical criteria for determining malnutrition severity and strategies for addressing documentation inconsistencies. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the latest ICD-10-CM codes for malnutrition
  • Identify relevant ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and American Hospital Association Coding Clinic recommendations for correct code assignment
  • Analyze clinical indicators of malnutrition diagnoses to identify query opportunities
