Overview

This course will explore the three categories of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes. The discussion will include the manuals organization, define symbols seen to identify new, revised and deleted codes as well as common terms and conventions used in the CPT manual.

At the completion of this module, the participant will be able to:

• Describe code sets used for reporting diagnoses and procedures for physician services
• Explain the difference between CPT and HCPCS codes
• Determine which groups release each set of codes used by physician coders
