Overview
This course identifies the types and general use of the coding systems used in the United States. It identifies the diagnosis coding classification and the two levels of the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) used for reporting hospital outpatient and provider services.
At the completion of this module, the participant will be able to:
- Describe code sets used for reporting diagnoses and procedures for physician services
- Explain the difference between CPT and HCPCS codes
- Determine which groups release each set of codes used by physician coders
