Presented by: Shelley C. Safian, PhD, RHIA, HCISPP, CCS-P, COC, COC-I

Migraines impact millions of people in the U.S., leaving many incapacitated by symptoms. As sufferers visit providers to seek relief, coders must keep up with the latest relevant diagnoses and procedures. It’s just as important for coders to be aware of anatomy, ICD-10-CM and CPT® documentation and medical necessity requirements, and various treatment methods.

During this 60-minute webinar, Shelley C. Safian, PhD, RHIA, HCISPP, CCS-P, COC, CPC-I, will delineate the clinical differences between headaches and migraines, discuss migraine treatments, and review relevant codes and reporting guidance in ICD-10-CM and CPT. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Determine the appropriate ICD-10-CM codes to report diagnostic testing for suspected chronic migraines
  • Interpret clinical documentation to determine an accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis code for chronic migraines
  • Select the correct CPT codes for reporting chronic migraine treatments
