Presented by: Shannon E. McCall, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CEMC, CRC, CCDS, CCDS-O

The American Medical Association’s 2023 CPT® update brings many changes to E/M coding, billing, and documentation policies. The update, which takes effect January 1, includes over 200 new codes, 75 deletions, and almost 100 revisions. It features deletion of select observation codes, changes to prolonged service codes, and alteration of criteria for selecting inpatient care codes, aligning these services with the 2021 E/M service changes.

During this 60-minute webinar, Shannon E. McCall, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-I, CEMC, CRC, CCDS, CCDS-O, will review the newly reportable E/M codes, guideline changes, add-on codes, and deleted and revised codes. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize revised E/M service guidelines and descriptors
  • Assign codes for E/M services based on time or medical decision-making, as applicable
  • Describe documentation requirements for new and revised E/M services
