Availble ON-DEMAND

Presented on: Wednesday, April 24, 2019

Presented by: Amber Condren, BS, B Ed, CPC, CHA, CEMC, CMDP

In 2019, the AMA replaced a straightforward set of codes for psychological and neuropsychological testing with a far more complicated system of time-based codes. This overhaul could spell millions of dollars in denied payments for practices across the spectrum of specialties. Use the wrong code for the wrong service or the wrong provider, and you’ll lose money to denials or overpayments.

Join expert speaker Amber Condren, BS, B Ed, CPC, CHA, CEMC, CMDP, for this 60-minute webinar and learn about the new codes, including guidance and time requirements. Condren will answer questions during a live Q&A session at the end of the webinar!

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the requirements for the new codes, including time requirements
  • Train providers to create complete documentation
  • Select the appropriate test administration and scoring codes based on who performed the service and how much time the provider spent on the service
  • Select the appropriate evaluation code based on the type of test and the amount of time the provider spent on the service

  • An overview of the new codes, including guidance and time requirements
    • Four new evaluation codes (96130–96133)
    • Four new administration and scoring codes (96136–96139)
    • One new automated test and evaluation code (96146)
  • Rules for documenting the service
  • Tips for avoiding denials

Who Should Listen?

  • Coders
  • Billers
  • Compliance officers
  • Clinicians and technicians who perform and/or analyze the tests
