Presented by: Reta A. Underwood, C-NM, RAC-CT, Medicare Specialist

Join expert Reta A. Underwood, C-NM, RAC-CT, Medicare Specialist, as she discusses CMS’ final payment rule for skilled nursing facilities (SNF). The proposed rule currently includes a 1.3% payment hike—that’s $444 million—for fiscal year 2022 and contains updates related to the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM), SNF consolidated billing, and the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) and Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) program. These updates include reporting COVID-19 vaccination rates, and potential penalties for high rates of sepsis, UTIs, pneumonia, and other healthcare-acquired infections.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how CMS’ new final payment rule will affect their reimbursement and reporting for fiscal year 2022
  • Define SNFs’ new responsibilities to CMS, including reporting requirements
  • Identify potential areas where SNFs could be penalized based on care or poor documentation
  • Operate and document to optimize care and reimbursement under the new payment rule

  • Overview of the 2022 final payment rule
  • Payments to increase 1.3%
  • PDPM parity adjustment

  • HAI reporting
