Presented by: Laurie Bouzarelos, MHA, CPC

Outpatient documentation and coding for behavioral health and psychiatry brings a set of unique challenges. Coders must be familiar with documentation of psychiatric history, symptoms, and treatment planning and adhere to complex ICD-10-CM/CPT® coding guidelines for reporting mental disorders and their treatment.

Join expert Laurie Bouzarelos, MHA, CPC, for this 90-minute webinar, during which she will provide an in-depth review of documentation and  ICD-10-CM/CPT coding for behavioral health and psychiatry. She will review CPT coding for E/M office visits, psychiatric care services, health behavior assessments and interventions, and psychological testing.

Bouzarelos will also review applicable ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, 2022 ICD-10-CM codes for social determinants of health, and challenges surrounding diagnosis coding for psychiatric conditions. The presentation will conclude with a review of telepsychiatry services payable under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and Medicare proposals that would expand coverage for certain behavioral health services in 2022. Plus, a live Q&A will give audience members the chance to have their specific questions answered.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Break down documentation and CPT guidelines for psychiatric services provided by mental health professionals and physicians
  • Select accurate CPT and ICD-10-CM codes for behavioral health services
  • Adhere to Medicare billing and reporting requirements as they relate to telemedicine during the public health emergency
