loyal listener library

Presented on: Thursday, November 19, 2020 | 1-2:30 p.m. Eastern

Presented by: Lori-Lynne A. Webb, CPC, CCS-P, CCP, CHDA, CDIP, COBGC

Outpatient coding for obstetric (OB) services has become more complicated due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Coding and billing professionals must keep track of reporting requirements for visit services administered remotely using telemedicine and updates to the ICD-10-CM guidelines for reporting COVID-19 in pregnancy. Beginning January 1, physician coders will also have a new set of guidelines to adhere to for reporting E/M visits.

During this 90-minute webinar, Lori-Lynne A. Webb, CPC, CCS-P, CCP, CHDA, CDIP, COBGC, will review outpatient coding for the global OB package and separately identifiable pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care. She will provide an in-depth review of the 2021 E/M reporting guidelines, CPTÒ and ICD-10-CM code updates, and reporting considerations for outpatient telehealth visits.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the latest ICD-10-CM codes for pregnancy diagnoses
  • Describe updates to the E/M reporting guidelines and their impact on coding for maternity care
  • Interpret CPT coding conventions and guidance for reporting common and unusual antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care
  • Adhere to telehealth coding and billing requirements and payer guidance for appealing claim denials
