Presented on: Thursday, June 9, 2022

Presented by: Jerilyn Morrissey, MD

Misconceptions abound about how the 2-midnight rule applies to Medicare Advantage (MA) cases. Poor communication, insufficient processes, and misunderstandings of the rule and MA payers leave organizations at serious risk of lost revenue and compliance gaps.

During this 60-minute program with live Q&A, expert speaker Jerilyn Morrissey, MD, will clear up confusion about the regulations and explain how to determine when the 2-midnight rule applies to MA payers. Morrissey will share tips on process improvements to reduce denials and support compliance. She will also discuss common MA payer denial strategies, how provider organizations can use data analytics to discover their MA payers’ denial patterns, and methods to reduce these denials and create a more even playing field for providers and MA payers.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the regulatory framework that applies to MA
  • Discuss what MA payers are and are not allowed to do
  • Identify resources available to providers when payers do not abide by the rules
