Cesarean deliveries have a long history, and while medical advancements have significantly decreased risk, the practice still comes with complications and can be difficult for coders to report. Vaginal births after cesarean (VBAC)—especially failed ones—come with additional complexities and clinical documentation requirements that coders should be aware of to report them correctly.
