Presented by: Mary Veazie, MBA, CPA, CHC, CHRC

Clinical research can be a source of hope for many patients; an innovative treatment can turn a once-fatal disease into manageable condition, and a new drug or device can greatly improve a patient’s quality of life. But for providers, it is often difficult to navigate the clinical operations involved in billing for clinical research. Due to the various regulations governing clinical research billing, providers must understand the multitude of elements to include on claims while coordinating with many groups within a research center to ensure all information is captured appropriately.

During this 90-minute webinar, expert speaker Mary Veazie, MBA, CPA, CHC, CHRC, will walk through the key concepts and regulations for clinical research billing. This program will address Medicare billing regulations, national coverage determinations, and local coverage determinations applicable to clinical trials. It will also review claims requirements such as research modifiers to indicate research costs and routine costs, and it will walk through interdepartmental communication techniques to help attendees institute a clear, comprehensive process and road map for clinical research billing compliance.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the regulations governing clinical research billing
  • Explain key billing and coverage concepts involved in clinical research billing
  • Describe how clinical research billing impacts clinical operations and the revenue cycle
