Available ON-DEMAND

Presented on:
Tuesday, December 4, 2018

Presented by:
Robert Markette, attorney, Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, P.C.

In nearly 1,200 comments submitted about the proposed 2019 PPS rule for home health, the industry expressed significant concerns about the Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) slated to begin January 1, 2020. With about a year to go before the payment model launches, now is the time to delve deeply into the model, understand the challenges agencies will face, and begin preparing for these massive changes.

During this 90-minute webcast, Robert Markette, attorney with Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, P.C., will help attendees learn the basics of the PDGM and how their agency can start preparing. In addition, attendees will learn the latest on the increase to agencies’ total reimbursement in 2019 as well as changes to the Home Health Quality Reporting Program, value-based purchasing, the rural add-on, and other major provisions outlined within the final PPS rule. Join us at the end of the webcast for an educational live Q&A session.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Know the basics of the PDGM and how agencies can start preparing now
  • Learn the key differences between the PDGM, CMS’ prior plans for a Home Health Groupings Model (HHGM), and the current PPS
  • Review changes to assorted quality measures—from the Home Health Quality Reporting Program to value-based purchasing—and how these changes could impact agencies
  • Understand what changes are forthcoming to rural add-on payments and how those bonus payments will be phased out over time
  • Identify new opportunities because of planned changes involving home infusion therapy

  • Explanation of the PDGM and how it will change home health from the existing payment system
  • Outline of how payments will increase for agencies in 2019
  • Details about changes for the Home Health Quality Reporting Program and value-based purchasing
  • Examination of how rural add-on payments will change and be phased out in the coming years
  • Review of CMS’ plans affecting home infusion therapy
