Presented by:
Gloria Miller, CPC, CPMA, CPPM

ICD-10-CM and CPT® coding and billing for wound care often carries unique challenges compared to other specialties, as wound size, depth, and severity must be properly documented to report the most accurate codes. With the addition of new ICD-10-CM codes for phlebitis, thrombophlebitis, and pressure ulcers, coders’ jobs have become even more difficult. Wound care clinics are also facing increased scrutiny from the Office of Inspector General regarding the reporting of medically necessary treatment for foot injuries and podiatric ancillary services.

During this 90-minute live and on-demand webinar, Gloria Miller, CPC, CPMA, CPPM, will review the latest ICD-10-CM codes for different types of wounds and associated complications, and CPT coding for wound care management. Miller will discuss best practices for wound care documentation, coding, and billing, and review substantial updates to the E/M reporting guidelines. She will also review 2020 OPPS updates to supervisory requirements impacting wound care providers and an MPFS proposal to revise pricing for cellular and tissue-based products. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Locate appropriate diagnosis codes for wound care local coverage determinations
  • Adhere to updated supervision requirements and E/M reporting guidelines as they apply to wound care encounters
  • Appropriately apply CPT codes for wound care assessments, including those performed via telemedicine
  • Prevent reimbursement issues by understanding medical necessity and billing requirements for wound care management and related services
