Presented by: Ellen Fink-Samnick, MSW, ACSW, LCSW, CCM, CRP

The social determinants of health (SDoH) are an industry priority. While robust evidence validates the impact of psychosocial circumstances on the health of clients and communities, another vital dimension is present. Mental health incidence and the social determinants are intertwined. Emphasis on trauma across the ages is emerging across practice settings. Expanded reimbursement is targeting health and behavioral health integration. Substance use, especially opioids, is a funding urgency. Add the intersection of the COVID-19 pandemic and racism, and the social determinants of mental health (SDoMH) become a must for every professional to master.

Engage in a comprehensive session to learn the essential knowledge base to ensure a holistic health perspective, especially population health. Learn definitions and demographics, explore the evidence, and review reimbursement, resources, and initiatives. Discover innovative models to interview and assess clients that address readmissions and unnecessary hospitalizations, as well as promote workforce safety and retention.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Define the SDoMH
  • Discuss the industry evidence across populations
  • Explore the intersection of racism, the COVID-19 pandemic, and SDoMH
  • Discuss types of stigma and means to address them
  • Identify dedicated interviewing and assessment tools
  • Explore funding and reimbursement for programs and resources targeting SDoMH
