Module 1: 

  • Module 1 covers the complexities associated with ICD-10-PCS and the documentation requirements for assigning medical intervention codes within the ICD-10-PCS code set. 


Module 2: 

  • Module 2 covers the characters associated with ICD-10-PCS codes in the medical and surgical section and helps CDI specialists understand the application of root operations. 


Module 3: 

  • Module 3 covers the documentation needed to support the “problematic” elements of an ICD-10-PCS code (root operation, body part, device, and qualifier) and helps CDI professionals identify how to apply the appropriate approach value based upon documentation. 


Module 4: 

  • Module 4 covers the different sections, in addition to medical-surgical interventions, related to ICD-10-PCS so that CDI professionals can identify possible areas in need of CDI intervention. 


Module 5

  • Module 5 covers procedures most commonly performed on the Medicare population so that CDI professionals can identify documentation issues.

  • Module 6 covers ICD-10-PCS documentation issues related to PTCA and documentation issues related to CABG.

  • Demonstrate increased knowledge regarding general documentation requirements for assigning a medical intervention code within the ICD-10-PCS code set

Online Boot Camp Staff

Laurie L. Prescott, MSN, RN, CCDS, CDIP, is the CDI education director with HCPro. Prescott serves as a full-time instructor for the CDI Boot Camp as well as a subject matter expert for ACDIS. 

Prescott is a frequent speaker on HCPro/ACDIS webinars and author of The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist’s Complete Training Guide. She started her nursing career in 1985 as a graduate of the University of Vermont School of Nursing. Since that time she has worked at a variety of organizations, including academic, large, and small community hospitals. She has worked in a number of nursing roles, including as manager in the areas of medical/surgical, ICU, PACU, and endoscopy. Her experience also includes specialization as a compliance officer.

Prescott completed her MSN with a focus in nursing education at the University of Phoenix and taught nursing as an adjunct instructor to ADN students. She continued this focus as the director of education at Danville Regional Medical Center. In 2007, Prescott left this role to develop and implement a CDI program, then joined HCPro in 2013.
