MEET THE SPEAKERS
Jan Fitzgerald MS, RN,CHPQ Director Quality and Medical Management Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts. She has a Master of Science Degree in acute/critical care nursing from the University of Massachusetts, Worcester MA. Her clinical experience includes work in critical care, emergency medicine, general surgery orthopedics. Jan is responsible for program development, development, implementation and monitoring of clinical guidelines, and protocols, outcomes measurement across the medical center. She oversees clinical performance improvement and measurement, quality regulatory reporting and functions as the site coordinator for several national and state performance improvement collaborative's.
Stephanie Jackson, MSN, APRN, CS at Sentara Health. Stephanie Jackson is the manager of the Education Department, Diabetes Program, and Enterostomal Therapy Program at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science of Nursing degree in 1992 and her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 1998, both from the University of Virginia. She is currently enrolled in the doctoral nursing program also at the University of Virginia located in Charlottesville, Virginia. One of her research interests is fall prevention. Along with her mentor, Suzanne Rita, she received the Best Practice Award for Fall Prevention at the 8th National Evidence Based Fall Prevention Conference in 2007. Stephanie and Suzanne are also 2006 recipients of a Robert Wood Johnson grant to study new and innovative approaches to the identification of patients at high risk to harm from falling.
Salah S. Qutaishat, Ph.D. CIC. FSHEA, is the director of Infection Prevention and Control with Premier Inc, Informatics Division located in Charlotte North Carolina. Qutaishat received a Ph.D. in Microbiology Department school of Medicine from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Qutaishat also has a M.S. in Medical Biology from C.W. Post College, Long Island University, and a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Science, University of Jordan. Qutaishat’s prior experiences include being the clinical epidemiologist and director of Infection Control Department at Columbia St. Mary’s in Wisconsin, as well as the senior infection control epidemiologist at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield Wisconsin.
