The regulatory guidelines and billing rules for incident-to and split/shared services remain a mystery to many physician practices. Confusion around billing nurse practitioner and physician advisor services often leads to noncompliance. It can also result in lost revenue and inefficient scheduling due to misconceptions regarding supervisory requirements.

During this on-demand program, expert speaker Shannon O. DeConda, CPC, CPC-I, CEMC, CMSCS, CPMA, breaks down the regulatory requirements and nuances involved in billing incident-to and split/shared services. She will also cover how to address place of service codes and give listeners auditing best practices for these services. Case studies and scenarios will further illustrate the real-life application of incident-to and split/shared rules.

At the conclusion of this on-demand program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe incident-to and split/shared services and identify them in the physician practice setting
  • Recognize when each type of service is permitted according to place of service, type of carrier, and the specific rules that relate to each
  • Identify which providers are eligible to perform incident-to and split/shared services
