HealthLeaders Media LIVE from SSM: The New Model for Joint Replacement Excellence

Presented on April 15, 2014

Webcast will be shipped in USB drive format.

Like many hospitals, SSM Health Care-St. Louis’ orthopedic service line was built around independent—and often competing—physicians. Faced with the challenge of growing market share in joint replacement services, SSM sought a way to bring independent physicians together in a dedicated joint replacement center that would set a new standard for quality care, reduced cost, and patient satisfaction. SSM leaders knew they would have to forge a workable physician-hospital alignment model and foster greater collaboration. By adopting a hybrid medical directorship model, streamlining care pathways, and reducing complications through the use of a dedicated surgical evaluation center, SSM increased joint volume nearly 10% per year, achieved 99.89% compliance with Surgical Care Improvement Project protocols, and maintained customer satisfaction of 95% or higher. Free case study.

Purchase HealthLeaders Media LIVE From SSM: The New Model for Joint Replacement Excellence for solutions, interactive Q&A, and lessons learned. Listeners will:

  • Discover how a hybrid medical directorship model enabled SSM to focus metrics on clinical quality and patient satisfaction—and how that model drove volume
  • Learn how SSM and its orthopedic partners found common ground to streamline care pathways
  • Find out how to consolidate and standardize preoperative testing through a dedicated surgical evaluation center
  • Learn how to influence independent orthopedic surgeons to adopt common practices and improve outcomes
