Kretzinger joined Heartland in 1977 and  become COO in 1999 after serving as administrator of Heartland Regional Medical  Center. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwest Missouri  State University and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan  University.

Mark Laney, MD

President and CEO

Prior to joining Heartland in 2009, Dr.  Laney served for 15 years at Cook Children's Health Care System as the Cook  Children's Physician Network president. Dr. Laney earned a Bachelor of Arts  from the University of North Texas, received a Doctor of Medicine from the  University of Texas Medical Branch, and completed a pediatric neurology  fellowship at Mayo Clinic. In 2000, he received a Master of Science in Medical  Management at the University of Texas and the University of Texas Southwestern.

Rebecca Preston, MD, JD

Medical Center Physician Administrator

Prior to coming to Heartland in 2011,  Dr. Preston was Scott & White Health Plan’s vice president/medical  director. Dr. Preston earned a BA in Biology from Oakland University and a  Doctor of Medicine from Texas A&M University Health Science Center College  of Medicine, and completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at Scott  & White Hospital. Dr. Preston also completed a residency in anesthesiology  at University of Utah School of Medicine and earned a JD degree from University  of Utah College of Law.

Diane Smith

Team Leader for Contracts and Managed  Care

Diane Smith joined Heartland Health in  1988, holding several roles in finance and becoming leader of contracts and  managed care in 2003. Diane earned a Bachelor of Science in Business  Administration, with a major in accounting, from Missouri Western State  University in 1987. She is a fellow of the Advisory Board Company and a  Certified Healthcare Financial Professional with HFMA.
