Presented by: Sherri Parson, RN, HCS-D, HCS-O, HCS-H, COS-C, BCHH-C, Vice President of Education and Control Standards at Quality in Real Time (QIRT) in Floral Park, N.Y.

The Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) comes with heightened specificity requirements and draws case mix from coding on the claim, not the OASIS. Coding expert Sherri Parson, RN, HCS-D, HCS-O, HSC-H, COS-C, BCHH-C, will explain how coding and comorbidities are affected by this payment system.

In this 60-minute webinar, Parson will cover how comorbidity adjustments work, which diagnoses should be included on claims, and why it’s vital to have a sound query process when further documentation specificity is needed.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how PDGM affects home health coding
  • Explain how low and high comorbidity adjustments work under PDGM
  • Identify which diagnoses should be included on claims

Agenda

  • Overview of how comorbidity adjustments fit into overall case mix under PDGM
  • Low vs. high comorbidity adjustments and where to find the lists
  • Guidance on which diagnoses should be included on the claim (relevant vs. known)
  • Query process improvements for further specificity
  • Analysis of changes detailed in the 2020 final payment rule
  • Comorbidity adjustment scenarios

Who Should Listen?

  • Administrators/owners
  • Coders
  • Quality managers
