JustCoding's Clinical Scenario Workbook: 2018 ICD-10-PCS Edition

Real-world coding simulation to sharpen your coding skills

JustCoding's Clinical Scenario Workbook: 2018 ICD-10-PCS Edition provides an opportunity for coders to practice and refine their skills in a hands-on way by using a wide range of real-life case scenarios. Coders will determine the correct ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to report for each case scenario based on provided documentation, evidence of sufficient medical necessity, and any conditions present that would allow for MS-DRG capture.

Both print and digital versions of the workbook also include labeled illustrations for select cases to help coders by highlighting important anatomic details.

When applicable, cases will also include references to guidance from the 2018 Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, and the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS manuals.

These 52 case scenarios let coders practice real-world coding without risking actual revenue. Coders can practice on their own or as a group, with enough cases for coding teams to complete one each week together for a full year.

This book will help coders by:

  • Simulating real-world coding by actively reporting ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for each case scenario
  • Providing answers for every case with rationales from experts who explain why certain codes should or should not be reported
  • Giving a refresher on certain standards, bundling policies, and coding guidelines necessary for compliance

Online Edition Details

The digital edition of JustCoding's Clinical Scenario Workbook: 2018 ICD-10-PCS Edition contains the same great content in the print version but, thanks to the format, has some additional benefits including:

  • Adjustable difficulty — Each case is available in beginner and advanced levels, allowing users to set the amount of challenge they are comfortable with. The beginner level provides additional details such as the code descriptions while the advanced level provides only the scenario, leaving code selection completely up to the user.
  • Easier distribution — The digital version of the workbook allows managers to delegate cases to be done and you can track your team’s progress as they work through the cases.
  • Instant feedback — Instead of referring to an answer key, our interface allows you to easily see whether your answer is correct upon submission.
