On October 1, 845+ code changes take effect for the 2018 fiscal year. CDI professionals need to know which diagnoses require additional medical record documentation in order to effectively query physicians. They’ll need to be familiar with readmission penalties, disproportionate share hospital payments, base rate adjustments, DRG shifts out of surgical categories, coding guideline changes, and DRG shifts for spinal procedures—to name a few!

Join ACDIS’ renowned CDI education specialists Laurie L. Prescott, MSN, RN, CCDS, CDIP, CRC, and Allen Frady, RN, BSN, CCS, CCDS, for this 90-minute program to learn more about which code set changes offer the greatest opportunities for CDI professionals—and which ones present the most urgent needs for physician engagement and education.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify CDI target areas related to ICD-10-CM/PCS
  • Adapt CDI practices to meet new recommendations from AHA Coding Clinic for ICD-10-CM/PCS and the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
  • Employ new 2018 ICD-10 codes in the query process
  • Assess current CDI queries for needed updates
  • Develop review strategies for new ICD-10-CM/PCS opportunities
