Authors

Karen Bridgeman, MSN, CCDS, assumed the role of CDI educator for the Medical University of South Carolina in September 2013. In this role, she provides CDI education to the CDI staff consisting of educational reading materials, a bulletin board, updates on new developments in CDI and coding, and updates to the AHIMA query guidelines. Her role also entails serving as a resource for CDI and the coding department. Bridgeman provides presentations for the CDI-Coding quarterly meetings, and presented ICD-10 physician education for the Children’s Hospital physicians, including hospitals as well as the pediatric general surgery, cardiology, and critical care units. She is also a past presenter at the ACDIS national conference.
