Even before the advent of ICD-10, Patient Safety Indicators (PSI) were a measure of the quality of a hospital’s care. With ICD-10’s implementation, however, the documentation requirements became increasingly complicated and the composition of the PSIs themselves changed. Because of their implications on reimbursement and quality measures, CDI professionals need to understand how PSIs are formed and what their documentation requirements are.

Join expert speaker Mary Kay Brooks, RN, MSN, CPHQ, for this 60-minute CDI conversation and learn how CDI can make a difference in the world of PSIs.

About CDI Conversations:
This new webinar format offers a detailed look at a CDI issue in an informal, easy-to-digest discussion, where subject matter experts share their experiences and offer tips to tackle ongoing challenges.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify potential PSIs during record reviews
  • Explain the components and documentation requirements of common PSIs
  • Examine coding guidelines and Coding Clinic requirements for reporting complications of care
  • Provide education to physicians regarding PSIs and proper documentation techniques
  • Describe the relationship between PSIs and quality reimbursement and publicly reported data
