Course Overview

Building a Best Practice CDI Team

May 8–9, 2017 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day)

In a best practice CDI program, CDI team members and their physician advisors have a strong collaborative relationship, everyone’s time is used wisely and effectively, and the medical staff is engaged and cooperative.

Join Richard Pinson, MD, FACP, CCS, and Cynthia Tang, RHIA, CCS, CDI specialists and authors of the best-selling CDI Pocket Guide, for a two-day program in which physician advisors and their CDI team members learn the keys to success. Special group pricing (see below) is provided so that hospitals can send their whole team and get on the same page.

Ask yourself:

  • Even though your CDI program is successful, do you think it could perform better or benefit from expansion?
  • Could your physician advisor be used more effectively?
  • Are your CDI specialists, coders, and physicians all on the same page regarding diagnostic criteria for key diagnoses?
  • Are you familiar with pay-for-performance and your hospital’s quality initiatives, but unsure how to incorporate them into your CDI process?
  • Do you know how to measure the success of your CDI program?
  • Could your physician query responses improve?
  • Is it difficult to engage your medical staff?

If the answer to any of these questions is “yes,” this seminar is just what the doctor ordered. By bringing simplicity to complex concepts, Dr. Richard Pinson and Cynthia Tang arm attendees with authoritative, essential information. Learn to assess what is working in your CDI department, what can be improved, and how to make positive changes.

Each participant receives a print or digital copy of the 2017 CDI Pocket Guide, which not only serves as the course’s training manual but provides a resource for daily use. Sample CDI performance measures and reports, as well as a library of physician query templates will be provided.

Who should attend?
